Are you a creative and detail-oriented Design Engineer looking to work on innovative automation projects? This is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of projects from initial concept through to manufacture and installation, collaborating with customers, project managers, and production teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design bespoke mechanical components, fixtures, and automation systems using 3D CAD software.
- Produce detailed manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of materials.
- Develop innovative design solutions that meet customer specifications and project requirements.
- Work closely with project engineers, manufacturing teams, and suppliers to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.
- Participate in design reviews and implement improvements where required.
- Support prototype development, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering standards, safety regulations, and company procedures.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and manufacturing processes.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experienced using 3D CAD software (such as SolidWorks)
- Able to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- A strong problem solver with excellent attention to detail.
- Comfortable managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
- A confident communicator who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team.
- Passionate about engineering innovation & continuous improvement.
Desirable Skills
- Experience designing automation equipment, robotic systems, or special purpose machinery.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, and assembly.
- Experience implementing or administering a PDM system
- Basic knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Understanding of pneumatic systems and mechanical motion.
- Experience creating technical documentation and risk assessments.
- Familiarity with collaborative robots (cobots) or industrial automation would be an advantage.
